AWARE and the Nest collective, currently in residence at the Villa Vassilieff’s Research Center for 2025, are pleased to welcome you to the first in a series of events exploring themes of parenthood, home, and exile.
For this event, the Nest collective invited artist Jisoo Yoo to join them in reflecting on the evening, in relation to AWARE Research Center’s resources. Their discussions centered on the origin of the home, drawing a parallel between the womb as the first form of shelter and the body as a living house. They have reimagined the space, incorporating embracing forms designed to host performances and readings, beginning at 7pm.
While investigating at the Research Center for this residency, they were particularly moved by Ana Mendieta‘s words on the temples she visited in Malta: “[…] there is one that was carved out of a cave with red spirals painted on the ceiling. I went into it and felt as if I was in a big womb. That’s really what art is about – it bonds un historically.1”
