AWARE and the Nest collective, currently in residence at the Villa Vassilieff’s Research Center for 2025, are pleased to welcome you to the second in a series of events exploring themes of parenthood, home, and exile, on Friday, June 13, 2025. Artist Pauline Ghersi was invited by the collective to explore these ideas together, nourishing them with resources housed at AWARE.
Recognizing that cultural and artistic events rarely consider the presence – or the specific needs – of parents and children, Quiet Time takes a different approach.
A welcoming space will be created where young children will not only be welcomed but at the heart of the artistic community throughout the evening. The space will include age-appropriate games and areas for rest, reflection, and conversation. Parents are invited to pause, connect, and feel supported in a cozy, calm space – a space to read, share a drink and engage with feminist literature that reflects on motherhood and parenthood. More than a simple event, Quiet Time offers a moment to feel seen, understood, and perhaps to imagine together new forms of caregiving and parenthood.
This proposition echoes Chloe Briggs and Lillian Davies’ Playgrounds1, available in AWARE’s research center: “At its best, a conversation is very much like a playground. It’s a loving space that holds its actors, its speakers, safely inside a moment they feel free to take risks and experiment. To connect in a way that allows each to grow. Inside an instant that can never be repeated.”
