On the occasion of the 30th anniversaries of both the Mona Bismarck American Center and the National Museum of Women in the Arts (Washington D.C.), NMWA Director Susan Fisher Sterling introduced a round table discussion about the role of women artists in history and today.

Joining the discussion were Fabrice Hergott, Director of the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris; Camille Morineau, Co-founder and President of AWARE (Archives of Women Artists, Research & Exhibitions); Floriane de Saint Pierre, businesswoman & art collector; and contemporary artist Elsa Sahal. Comparing the situation of women artists in France and in the United States, and recent initiatives to improve their visibility in public institutions and galleries, this panel shared key perspectives on this important subject.
Moderator : Thomas Schlesser, Director of the Hartung-Bergman Foundation and professor of art history at the École Polytechnique.
