“Related”: Netherlands – Caribbean (19th c. – Today) is a project in partnership with the Embassy of the Netherlands in Paris that aims to highlight, within global art history, women artists who have a strong connection to the former colonial territories or current Dutch overseas territories in the Caribbean. This program is entitled “Related” in reference to artist Sara Blokland’s work Related: A Photographic Performance (2007), in which she photographs her mixed-race Dutch-Surinamese family.
