Interview with Jacqueline de Jong

Introduction

“I wasn’t being a great philosopher when I painted. I was pretty down-to-earth (except when I ventured into the cosmos…). This prosaic quality is embodied in the form of violence that can be found at every stage of my painting, right up to the most recent series dealing with war.”

The 8 November 2019 the second volume of the collection of interviews with recipients of Outstanding Merit Prize is available in bookshop. This second tome is dedicated to Jacqueline de Jong – a winner of the 2019 Prize – on the occasion of her exhibition Same Players Shoot Again: Jacqueline de Jong and The Situationist Times at Treize in Paris. The interview was conducted by Gallien Déjean, art critic and freelance curator.

In November 2019 was published the first volume of the collection dedicated to Nil Yalter. The next volumes of the collection will be devoted to Judit Reigl (winner in 2017), Vera Molnár (winner ex-aequo in 2018), Marie Orensanz (winner in 2020) et Esther Ferrer (winner of Marie Claire-AWARE Prize in 2016).
