AWARE is partnering with The Armory Show, New York, in an ambitious educational program, aiming at highlighting the women artists exhibited by the participating galleries in the main section of the fair (Galleries). The partnership culminates in a juried Prize, The AWARE Prize at The Armory Show, to a solo presentation of work by a woman artist.
Curated by AWARE co-founder Camille Morineau, (Un)seen Scene is a focused walk through of 25 presentations of the work by women artists within the main section (Galleries) of The Armory Show. This selection of artworks presents a critical and subjective overview of the works by modern and contemporary women artists. Visitors are guided through the tour via an audio guide narrated by Camille Morineau, enabling all visitors to experience a feminist perspective by established and emerging women artists.

The $10,000 juried prize highlights the excellence of the artist’s work and the gallery’s courage to present a solo-female artist’s work in a market that has systematically undervalued art made by women.

The jury selected June Edmonds from a short list of five finalists which included Rina Banerjee, Galerie Nathalie Obadia; Yuko Nasaka, Axel Vervoordt Gallery; Aase Texmon Rygh, OSL Contemporary; Alexis Smith, Garth Greenan Gallery.
