AWARE and Union Quoi? International·e, an artists collective associated with the Villa Vassilieff’s research center and library, are pleased to invite you to a new session of the book club.
For this third session, conceived and led by Camille Simon Baudry, we invite you to delve into the questions that many writers and thinkers ask themselves: What is the gesture of telling a story? What does it mean? How do we relate to others? What is our relationship to the world?
Telling a story as a diseuse, as a woman, as a writer, as a storyteller, as a weaver, as a gatherer, as a witness to a history that runs through and beyond us, a story that is being spun and whose political forces we must grasp.
It is now up to us to gather from this galaxy of words, made up of fragments, long and short, from the works of bell hooks, Trinh T. Min-ha, Ursula K. Le Guin, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha and Leslie Marmon Silko. It is now our turn to gather, and then tell, as we navigate through this heap of thoughts.
The session will begin with a reading of Ursula K. Le Guin’s essay The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction [La Théorie de la Fiction-Panier]. A French translation will be provided for the occasion.
